Hello,
I've got an aircraft I downloaded some time ago and have not been happy with the starting eyepoint; it's too high and I always adjust it down. I see in the aircraft.cfg where eyepoint is called out, and I understand the first number is the height and the one I need to change. When you press "Shift Enter" it changes the eyepoint to where I'd like it to be in the first place. How can I figure out how much the "Shift Enter" actually changes the eyepoint so I can add (or subtract?) that amount to the aircraft.cfg number?
Thanks! Kurt

Hi,
You just have to guess. For one Shift-Enter keypress, try reducing (or increasing?) it by 0.1 or 0.2.
Hope this helps,

Thanks, I'll do the guessing thing and will probably get it in a few tries. (Sorry to ask a question and disappear for so long!).
Have a great weekend, Kurt

Please don't take offence, but when I saw your nic and the topic I had to laugh, Biggiraffe & adjusting the Eyepoint, well you would wouldn't you?

I meant no harm, I'm glad you saw the humour in it, thanks.

I have wished to do the same with a few of the more prominent models located here. I use 2D exclusively and really get annoyed at turning my head to look out the window only to find that I am looking at the side of the cockpit -- as if the pilot's seat has been moved back about four feet.

Hi, I'm not having much luck with the eyepoint. It's starting so that you're practically looking "up". I can correct this by doing the Shift-Enter. This appears to change the angle of view and makes it easier to see the ramp and other aircraft. However, if I try to change the start point by changing the third (last) number value in the VIEWS part of the aircraft.cfg file, it seems to move up or down without change the angle. In other words, Shift-Enter is acting like it changes the view angle and VIEWS only changes the vertical height.
Is there another way to alter the initial view angle?
(You'd think a giraffe would be trying to lower the seat, not raise it)
Thanks, Kurt

Find the entry like: VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=8.000, 0.000, 0.000 and fiddle around with the first figure until it looks right. I think 0 is dead level and is what should be used in most aircraft: VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=0.000, 0.000, 0.000 Good luck, John

Hi, AFAIK the eyepoint does NOT change the angle of your view - it works just like Shift-Enter. John's method changes the view angle. A very good explanation of how to set the eyepoint (etc.): www.calclassic.com/sci_tutorial/index.htmlHope this helps,
