In 1964 I was stationed at Vance AFB in Enid Oklahoma. On one trip home to Detroit, I what would be the example of the transition years.
I departed Enid -Woodring Airport in Central Airlines DC-3 (to Ponca City and Wichita).
At Wichita, it was a TWA Connie to Kansas City. Then a TWA Boeing 707 to O'Hare and finally a United Viscount to Detroit.
About hit all the bases
The return was more prosaic. American L188 to Ok City, then the Central Gooney to Enid.
