Hello all,
I'm writing this thread to relay a request from a french group of Constellation fans and association for the restoration of the last existing Air France Lockheed Constellation L-1049 whose associative name answers to the simple "Amicale du Super Constellation", Friends of Super Constellation.
The association I am relaying this request for published a thread on an italian aviation forum I am part of called MD80.it asking for help outside their national borders, because their quest to restore the last AF Lockheed L-1049G F-BGNJ has hit a snag. At my suggestion to try on other forum and boards whose members may be interested in helping them, they asked the favor to whomever knew of such forums and boards to write the same request in their name.
Original thread on MD80.it (warning: written in italian), here.
Being a Connie fan myself, how could I remain untouched by such a request? And knowing this forum to be full of other aficionados of the same plane and/or same kind of planes, I decided to act as a proxy for our french friends.
The Constellation we're talking about is stored on a ground belonging to the army, and the association had, until recently, received a waiver to be able to work on the plane, but from 2007 onward that waiver was denied for reasons of lack of security of the grounds the Connie was stored in (whatever that means).
Fortunately though the plane they were restoring seems to have been registered in the register of the French Historical Monuments, so the association has launched a petition to unlock the situation and being able to resume their restoration.
Link to the petition (warning: written in french): www.mesopinions.com/Sauvons-le-Super-Constellation-F-BGNJ-petition-petitions-9f6edb9c4817a7ad43637abdcbd0a1e8.html
I cannot but ask each and any of you to consider to take 10 minutes off your time and sign the petition.
Thank you.
PS
For those among you who'd want to understand the thread on the italian forum and or/ the writ on the french petition before to sign it, though not speaking either the languages, consider the use of the free translation services on the net, like Babelfish.
