I can add another photo of my old 92607. Most of you I'm sure have seen 92607 in her dayglo paint and serving with MATS. In 1998 when Davethemac was painting her for flight sim from some of the photos I sent him, he came across the old girl many years after she left active duty with MATS and was transferred to the Air National guard.....I had often wondered what became of her after we transferred her to SAC to supposedly be converted into a KC-97G. I guess Lemay and company decided to keep her as a personnel carrier. Anyhow, this is what she looked like sans her makeup. Jesse

Hi Jesse,
I had been wondering for a long time when your Strat would turn up in this forum. A special lady indeed, with or sans makeup.
Cheers, Maarten

Cheers, Maarten Actually Maarten, you have seen her every time I make a post. My avatar is 92607. The attached photo was taken on 12 December 1954 over Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. We had departed Travis a few minutes earlier enroute to Hawaii, Wake Island and Tokyo. Since all the troops and dependents would miss Christmas, we decided to make a swing over San Francisco so they could get one last look at the city before they would be gone for several years. We had another MATS plane flying with us so they could get some photos. Jesse

If you aren't familiar with the San Francisco Bay area, behind the aircraft is the Golden Gate bridge; with U.S. Highway 101 going north into Marin County. Just to the right is a spot of land that is Sausalito, California. Over the tail is Beleveder Island; and across the fuselage is a chunk of rock know as Alcatraz; the infamous prison. On a bit farther to the left is Treasure Island with the San Francisco - Oakland Bay bridge going across it. Jesse

Hi Jesse,
Yep, I am a little familiar with it, I once went to San Fran with my wife and two daughters, we made a point of crossing the bridge plus we went to the usual tourist spots and visited Alcatraz, then after a few days we went over to Oakland.
We spent a month in California, we landed in LAX then went Long Beach, I wanted to see the Queen Mary and the Spruce Goose, then down to San Diego then a quick about turn and went north, we stayed along the coast and stopped in a few towns along the way till we ended up in Frisco then came back inland till we made our way back to LA to catch the plane.
We found the people were very friendly and the service was excellent, when they heard our accent they were extra nice, I almost forgot, we went to Disneyland, Universal, MGM, Knotts Farm and Sea World, all of it was great.
Sorry I didn't meant to take this off topic, it was just a reply top Jesse.

Thanks, Ray. It is getting along in years and has faded a bit. The Golden Gate used to be really noticeable, but time ages us all. ;D There is a side view that is a bit more clear, but it is a closeup and excludes the bridge. My three girls tell everyone that they have been on the bridge; over the bridge; and under the bridge. On our trip from Japan in 'July of '54 when we came back to the states, we had to come back by ship because I had a terrific cold and the Flight Surgeon would not clear me to fly so we docked at Fort Mason.
