I remember in FS2004 the slider for scenery complexity and autogen density were set as 'Normal' and 'Sparse' respectively, but in FSX would they be the same, or something different? The reason I ask, is I looked over the classic LaGuardia scenery with differing slider positions and noticed that at some settings the classic buildings were disappear and/or be sitting in the wrong places (several buildings where aircraft were parked, all I could see is the tails sticking out of the tops of the buildings.) Now, I do not know what is part of the classic scenery and what isn't (a default structure), so I cannot tell what it normal and what isn't. If I turned the slider lower, then many of the classic structure would disappear.
It probably just isn't the KLGA scenery, but other classic sceneries would be affected too, if the slider is set too high, or too low. So, for FSX-SE, would there be a specific slider position to ensure all the correct scenery is showing, and none of the default scenery is?
Edit: further testing of KLGA, and the buildings I referred to above where the aircraft were parked, they are default FSX buildings, and placing the slider at Sparse eliminates them, but it also takes the classic terminal(s) from the main parking area as well.... so perhaps there is no easy fix for this; either eliminate the default structures with a 'sparse' setting and remove classic buildings too, or leave it at 'normal' and have some default structures sitting where they aint supposed to. (anything higher than 'normal' and too many default buildings appear in the middle of taxiways....

You are correct, there is no "magic slider position" that will do what you want. You can use ADE to create exclude rectangles to remove default buildings.
