I have figured out the basics of how to convert, but the converted file isn't saving. I get a path error in the Event log.
I'm attempting to convert some of the older FSX ship to FS9. Specifically I'm experimenting with Yanco's CA 24, USS Pensacola. There is a very detailed CA 24 for FS9, but it is a very early model with no radar or range finder. The Yanco represents a more accurate late war model. I've checked YT for that specific tutorial, but haven't been able to find any. Any help would be appreciated.
I've converted the CA-24 textures to FS 9 format and I have substituted the air and cfg file from the FS9 CA-24. It's just a matter of converting the actual MDL file.

Do you have the path to the FS2004 MakeMDL file set in the Options?

No, I'm trying to save it to file in my document folder and copy and paste it later.

I don’t think you understand me. To create an FS2004 MDL file, MCX needs to access the MakeMDL application. This file is available in the FS2004 SDK, and once present on your computer, you need to tell MCX where it’s located in the MCX Options.
Hope this helps,
