Okay, I'm perplexed... FS9 renders lightning as angular white splotches with both the nVidia GeForce and ATI Radeon cards I have had in my Dell XPS. At one point, this was not the case, and short of an uninstall/reinstall of FS9, I'm at a total loss for ideas. Anyone have any? I've played with the sliders to no avail - this is the one thing that will not render properly...

Kris,
I'm far from an expert on video cards but have you downloaded new drivers or anything like that, if so was it Ok before or if not then may be you need to?

I'm guessing that you have replaced your lightning texture with an addon. I would go back to the default texture?

Great pictures Jesse, on a side not have you ever flown through a lightning storm, it must be scary? Never did fly thru a lightning storm. I always made it a point to avoid them where possible. I've been within a few miles of some which produced a good show of Mother Nature's force. Never had a plane hit with lightning. The static arrestors did a pretty good job out on the wing tips of keeping us secure. Jesse I need to clarify a point that may cause some confusion. The 'wicks' or static arrestors that you see out on the wing tips are not for lightning protection, but are used primarily to bleed of the static charge built up along the fuselage, wings and windshield area. When you fly thru clouds and in heavyily moisturized air, there is a phenonomen called St. Elmo's Fire. You can see this mostly at night where it looks like small streaks of lightning is dancing around the airplane. This is harmless and has never been known to be the direct cause of damage to a plane.

You are correct, and I used the "backup" files included in the package to restore the originals, but I saw no change I'm going to just reinstall FS9. there's a couple other mods I did to it that I;m not satisfied with and I'll let you know what happens
