...have I used an outside flight planner (FSNav), and now with FSX-SE, I have been using the built-in flight planner for VOR to VOR planning (based on 1940's Civil Airways system). I am familiar with it, I can generate a flight plan pretty quickly and get most of the information I need from the GPS and map. However, lately I heard about a program called Plan G. I know, probably old news to most, but I am usually more than a few years behind the curve, since it took me a fried computer one year ago to finally let go of FS9 and join the swiftly departing armchair pilots to FSX-SE (swiftly departing that sim for other non-Microsoft versions of flight simming, those who left Microsoft behind to join P3D and X-Plane, that is). Ahem. To the point.
Is Plan G as good as what FSNav used to be for FS9? I have downloaded it, and only danced around the edges right now, hesitant to learn new software and new flight planning techniques as I rapidly approach my senior years. Curious, if there is a better way to create flight plans, and if Plan G is it, as I loved using FSNavigator, and could whip out a flight plan as if I were a younger man with faster reflexes and thought processes. (age and too many beers have killed WAY too many brain cells). I liked being able to bring up FSNav in-flight to find a frequency, and ILS heading and airport elevation, that sort of thing and wish I could just as easily do so with FSX. If Plan G is not what I seek, then is there any other FSNav-esque programs out there that I have yet to discover?
