Hi all, Just a note to say the FS2004/FSX/P3D LORAN gauge has been released on flightsim.com. www.flightsim.com/files/file/210393-fs2004fsxp3d-loran-gauge/?do=getNewCommentIt will be uploaded to other sites in a few days once it's clear this version has no problems. It comes complete with a WWII era format PDF manual in the Gauges/LORAN/Manual and Documents folder. I've also updated the DC-6B CB-16 and DC-7 Base Packs, adding LORAN to the DC-6 and DC-7 panels. The installation text file includes instructions to install into the JBK DC-6 and Manfred Jahn L-749, L-1049G, and L-1649A panels. It also has instructions on how to install into any panel. Enjoy,

Just wanted to give a big thank you and shout out to all involved with the LORAN gauge. Still learning to use well it but absolutely love the manual and the effort to make it fit the time period so well. Cheers and Fly Safe!

Thanks for the kind comment. Glad to hear that someone is enjoying it, although I certainly knew in advance it would have very limited appeal.

Good evening from "120*F-in-the-shade-today" Miami!
Several things going on at home, but will upload to other sites over the next few days.
Tonight it's up at SimOuthouse and should be avaialable by tomorrow for download.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to upload to Simviation and Avsim by this weekend, with Avsim probably going first since they do things on weekdays only. That way it'll be up for the weekend.
As of this afternoon the initial download "hits" at Flightsim was almost at 90, so it may be higher by now.
Thanks to everyone that was part of the testing!

I finally got my Flightsim account sorted and was downloader #79.
Dumb question, I have found no indication that Trans Canada Airlines used LORAN but the RCAF almost certainly did and I assume that PanAm utilized it on as many routes as they could and that TWA became a user when they begin to cross the Atlantic with the same for United to Hawaii. I found a reference that hinted BOAC employed the system but outside of the military, were the European major airlines users of LORAN? Thinking primarily of SAS, Air France and Lufthansa here.
Thanks again.

I have an SAS DC-7C manual and they were equipped with LORAN so I assume that most of the transatlantic airlines used it. There is no indication of LORAN in United DC’s but my manual is from 1964 and it could have been removed by then. Also no mention of LORAN in Eastern Connies in 1960.

Given how Eddie Rickenbacker squeezed those pennies until they screamed and their route structure (Tight East coast runs, furthest oversea would've been Bermuda or Puerto Rico) I can't see him justifying the expense of the LORAN.
