Hi,
I have adapted my 2D panel for Bernie's plane, and it seems to work fine. All you need to do is copy over my files, and paste Bernie's VC section of his panel.cfg file into mine.
1. Back up Bernie's panel.cfg file in the plane's panel folder. I would rename it panel_orig.cfg 2. Copy the following from the f27pnlml folder in your Aircraft folder (assuming you have installed my F-27 Base Pack) into Bernie's panel folder:
F27-Main.BMP F27-Uppr.BMP F27-Wide.BMP panel.cfg PropTRGoiltemp.gau strat_gear_pos.gau
3. Open the copied panel.cfg file by double clicking it. Open it with Wordpad or Notepad.
4. Open the backed up original panel_orig.cfg file too. From this file, select everything from the VCockpit01 line to the end of the file and copy it
5. Now in the copied panel.cfg file, select everything from the VCockpit01 line to the end of the file, and paste the copied text over it.
6. Save this file.
Done!

Hi Tom,
I do not recommend to execute step 3, to copy the F27 gauges folder, since this is already in my panel subdirectory. Furthermore I found and corrected an error in the rpm2.xml, reading the rpm value while hovering the mouse over the gauge. Also I modified the stew.xml to switch the copilot on/off in the vc. So overwriting will kill these modifications.
Cheers Bernie

Hi,
Thanks. I didn't realize you had that folder in your version; I assumed I copied it.
So I have edited my post and removed the old step 3, so now people should perform every step.

Just tried installing Bernie's F-27 into P3D V2.2, all seemed to work well, looking forward to trying his updated version when it's finished

Hi, here some pics about the latest progress: The aircraft is raised for more than half a feet. Still in question is the scoop (the ?). Sometimes seen sometimes not, one only or two, on both sides. Is it for the apu? Got old pictures from jymp, a Piedmont F-27, without them. Cheers Bernie

Hi,
Looking good! I think those scoops were to provide air to the heat exchangers for cabin heating.
Check that Piedmont picture carefully - if the fuselage is long it's an FH-227, which didn't have scoops. All the pictures I have of original PI short body F-27's have scoops. AFAIK the early F.27's and F-27's all had scoops on both sides. Some later F-27's didn't have scoops, some of those using the FH-227 system. For example I have a pic of two Britt Air (CO Express) F-27J's - one has scoops, the other doesn't. The one without scoops has the square piece on the fin, like the FH-227. I also have a pic of a Finnair F.27-200 without scoops or square piece. It was ex-All Nippon which originally had scoops, so some were modified later. Finally, some aircraft used for cargo or water bombers might have had them removed, due to no need for cabin heating?
Hope this helps,

Hi Bernie, Wow, we are getting really close! Almost everything has been fixed - great job. The few things left that I see: 1. There are no black engine intakes in the VC model - you can see right through the engines. 2. There seems to be a texture mapping problem on the elevators - one surface is plain gray. (texture tweak fixed this) 3. There is a shading anomaly along the right fuselage, just above the windows and behind the wing. Perhaps need to weld some vertices? 4. The air scoops are not very detailed - feel free to use mine. 5. The main door opens too fast - change the line in the Doors section to: exit_rate.0=0.1 6. The taxi and landing lights do not show up in the 2D cockpit - they also need to be in the VC model for that. 7. The nose wheel does not turn with autorudder on and using the yoke to turn. You can use c_wheel animation to do that, instead of rudder animation. I can give details on the keyframe animation. 8. The trailing edge of the wings (at the roots and behind the engines) have a shading problem. You can either give the upper and lower wing surfaces separate smoothing groups, or break the polygon connections along the trailing edge. You can do that at least two ways - the first is Break the vertices along the trailing edge, then Weld the ones along the top edge and then along the bottom edge. The other is to Detach the upper polygons, then Attach them back. Then Weld the vertices along the forward edge (but not along the trailing edge). 9. The texture mapping on the opening passenger door on the Fairchild model is just a pixel or two higher than the fuselage mapping. 10. The lights could be tweaked - the white light can move forward 0.5 feet, and the beacon can have a nav_red line included to convert it from a strobe to a beacon: [LIGHTS] //Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit light.0 = 3, -1.20, -47.10, 5.56, fx_navred , light.1 = 3, -0.80, 47.10, 5.56, fx_navgre , light.2 = 3, -46.50, -0.20, 2.71, fx_navwhi , light.3 = 1, -39.68, 0.00, 22.10, fx_beacon , light.4 = 4, -10.89, 0.00, 3.14, fx_complight, light.5 = 4, 5.21, 0.00, 3.14, fx_complight, light.6 = 1, -39.68, 0.00, 22.10, fx_navred , The result, after a few texture tweaks: Thanks,

Looking good, guys. I'm downloading just now, so will report later.
Thanks for your continued work on this, Bernie.

This is great, you have completely transformed this plane into an actual F-27, keep up the great work, would it be hard to put the fuselage extension fwd of the wing to create the FH-227B ?

Thank you Tom for the precise analyse. Hmm, the funny thing is they are in the vc model and shows up perfect, but seems not to have an effect in the 2d view. Any idea?
The wing is made very basic, I'm not very happy about it at all. May be I'll create a new one to fix this problem too.
Cheers Bernie

Sorry John, but I have presently no intension of creating subversions of the two base models. My C-54 is waiting to be continued. Cheers Bernie

Hi, Thanks to Tom and bernie for helping me get the 2D panels. But, I've redownloaded the latest version of Base Package F-27 on CC. And I'm not sure which file is missing here. Can anyone give me advice? 2D Panel with missing gauges. Thanks in advance. Regards, Dennis

Hi,
The missing gauge in the center bottom of the engine section is the fuel gauge from the Gauges/cv340 folder. This is installed with the F-27A Base Pack.
Bernie, as I remember the Interior Node must be placed in the same 0,0,0 position as the exterior node for the lights to show up in the 2D panel (it's been a long time since I've had this problem).
Hope this helps,
