Thanks Tom - I've got a small question on the AI, will post there. On this topic, thanks for the work done thus far, and for considering the '6B. dl

Dear All Me again I shared the DC-6B model with Eric Joiner- heavy texture contributor here in past on those "6"s Is there any plan on the big spinner DC-6B Thanks for insight Roland PS:Sorry for the trouble after the SOH Posts Roland, thanks so much for this. I am looking/hoping for a spinner version of the DC-6B. Mainly to facilitate my Western Airlines skins. I did by the way... manage to merge the Justflight VC with the Greg Pepper/Tom Gibson models. Works "pretty well" though there are some gauges that dont seem to work as well... in particular I cant turn the heading needle. Possibly more tweaks needed. I only did one skin set with the JF VC as a test bed just to see if it could be done.

Eric, those paints were indeed lovely, "classic" in every sense.

OK, I have added all four models to the package. Hub and spinner, radar and non-radar. Same link, let me know if you see any problems.
BTW, I also updated the original radar hub model, the interior lighting was wrong.
Take care,

I need the big spinners for my western airlines birds... Also for the Frank Gonzalez JAL and Panagra DC-6Bs...

I downloaded your UAL paint from AVSIM (in case I had made any changes to mine), and installed it using the latest version of the hub/radar model (dc6b_FSX.mdl, dated 7/2, 6;24 pm PDT). I don't see any visual problems: I am wondering if you have edited the interior texture since you uploaded it? And did you change the alpha channel? I notice that the blurred props are also invisible in this livery, and that's due to a darker alpha channel than was used in my original UAL paint. The FSX transparency model sometimes does not like that and makes the whole texture transparent. I lightened the prop disk part of the alpha channel to 102,102,102 and that fixed that problem. I'm wondering if this is the case with the interior texture (which would include the inside of the door). Perhaps you could try backing up your interior texture and copying the interior.bmp file from the Base Pack livery into your old livery? Hope this helps,

PS. The only way I know to fix this without changing these textures would be to Import the model into ModelConverterX, choose the old UAL livery from the drop down box (if not already displayed), and in the Material Editor click on the texture, choose Set Default Transparent from the drop down box, and click Apply. This will change the "threshold value" FSX will use for transparency. Then use Export Object, select FSX MDL file from the drop down box, and click the same MDL file name (overwrite). To fix the broken animations (usually the case), Import the plane again, and Export Object again. You may have to repeat this several times before the model looks OK in FSX.
Note that you will need to have the FSX SDK installed (and updated to at least the SP2 version), or the P3D v1.4 SDK, which makes FSX compatible models. You will also need to specify the paths of the XtoMDL file from the SDK in the ModelConverterX Options.

Ah heck, I updated the original hub/radar model so it should work with both old and new UAL textures. Same link. Replace the dc6b_FSX.mdl file with this one.

Tom, you're awesome.
I dragged the DC-6B over from my fried FSX install and dropped in the new models, and had a quick look in P3DV4.5. As good as it ever looked in FS9 or FSX. I haven't monkeyed with the new 64 bit sound gauges, so am not sure if my panel has issues - but I couldn't bear to not at least have a quick look, after all that work you did. But a turn around Kai Tak revealed nothing major amiss.
I'll have to spend some time making sure my gauges and panels are all sorted, and go through my paints. From not having flown the DC-6 in a few months, my memory was a bit off. In fact, the later (early 60s) Cathay repaint for the DC-6 worked fine with the spinner 6B model, as did the Swissair and Pan Am. But the Canadian Pacific paint has door outline misalignments, due to my having applied a scheme I wanted (the later period DC-6 / DC-8 scheme) onto this model. I'll go back and see if there's one that fits, or failing that, apply a different (earlier) period paint, likely from Frank.
The same applies to the R6D paint. Small niggles, all self-inflicted, so no worries there.
The glass looks good from the outside, and props etc look splendid. I didn't do a night flight to check out lights and such, but so far, nothing but happiness over here!
thanks!

Hope this helps, Hi Tom, I have made zero changes to any textures on this livery. I just did some more looking and it appears that I was missing the interior textures in the texture folder for this livery. Hence the transparency! Also, yes I tinkered with the alpha channel on the props more to my liking. Though in that picture, then engines are off, so no prop disk visible...
