Unless your model is default, which would have nothing, instead of c97.

Enclosing the fltsim.x portion of the cfg file. I hope that his may help, but I can`t see anything amiss. Thanks for all the replies. model=c97 So, you have corresponding model folder named: model.c97 Or is the folder just named: model If the folder's name is just "model", then your line should read as: model= That's what pung is saying..... I cannot get the VC to show up in my KC-97G. I had to download "KC-97_New_VC_Texture" from AVSIM. I then copied the VC textures into my "texture" file in the kc97g folder, but when I start FS9 and select the VC, the view is the same as before--no VC.
Any ideas as to what could be wrong?
Thanks,
Gary

Hi,
You need to edit your Eyepoint line in the plane's aircraft.cfg file.
If now set to something close to 0,0,0 then set it to:
[Views] eyepoint=34, -1.849, 5.3
If set as above, set it to 0,0,0.
Hope this helps,

Thanks again to all. My model file is named... model=c97,matching the config file. As an experiment, I deleted the c97, and also deleted the c97 in the config file so both read model=, but still the aircraft is AWOL from the list. I`ve been installing, uninstalling, altering cfg files, etc, for 10 years now, and at times made mistakes such that a/c don`t appear, textures vanish, cockpits vanish, but have always recovered things. But this has got me beat. Thanks again for all the suggestions.

I have the title "Boeing 367 Stratofreighter", but mine works with "sim=c97", not "sim=strat". There is a "c97" air file version as well as a "strat" air file version.

Thanks pung, but I`ve tried with c97, with strat, and all combinations (!!), but only one at a time of course. I am about to have another play, as its a public holiday today, and its pouring with rain!

He's not talking about your model file, but your model *folder*. Currently FS is looking for a folder called model.c97. It is also looking for a folder called panel.c97, and an AIR file called strat.air. It is also looking for the texture.92607 folder. Make sure all are there and correct.
Hope this helps,

Hi everyone,
My apologies, firstly for being away at work in the desert for the last few days, and therefore, out of touch... but more importantly for failing to include the vc texture updates in the files at Avsim and Flightsim. I will fix that tonight (this morning for some of you) and link the folder to this panel set. Again, I am sorry.
Moving on, Eric... unfortunately the mdl files for all the military birds do not include mouse control over the throttles, mixture, trim etc (unlike the mdl files included in the B377 download). I have added hot spots for aileron and elevator trim but there is nothing I can do over the pedestal. As for the colour of the window frames, I followed the existing elements from the original vc textures when I first created the 2D panels with the only variation for the C97/KC97's being the yellow emergency exits. Green huh? Hmmm...
Gauge backlighting? Ok. I'll add that to the list of suggestions. It would look better if we were able to use all of the vc panel rather than part of it (an mdl file limitation again, at this point).
Generally... there seem to be some of you using C97.air and others using Strat.air for the C97. I was certain that, somewhere in a previous thread, the C97.air file was superseded by the later Strat.air file complete with new [views] settings and blurred_prop textures. Hence the entry in the aircraft.cfg I supplied: sim=Strat
Rubbish... Like you, I don't want this to beat us either. So..three, very simple questions.
Is there a model folder called model.c97 inside your new C97 aircraft folder ?
If you open the model folder what is the name of the .mdl file inside? Mine is called c97.mdl
Now, if you open the model config file it should say:
[models] normal=c97
A discrepancy there would cause an issue but it's unlikely to be the problem if you copied the model folder from your existing C97 into the new C97's aircraft folder (and likewise Strat.air)?
Your posted aircraft.cfg section looks fine. The only other thing I can think of, apart from the potential for you to have a C97.air file (but I think you've checked that) is that there is an unwanted space inside the [fltsim.0] line, or you have more than one [fltsim.0] entries.
Or that your new C97 aircraft folder is not in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft
Basic, I know, and I don't mean to sound rude. They are all things to check (like making sure I upload everything I say is in the parcel...Duh!)
I apologise again.

Hi again,
I have uploaded the missing folder "C97 KC97 vctextures.zip " (without the quotes) to Avsim and Flightsim.
Now... where did I put that sharp knife???
Bruce.

Bruce, I have modified for my own purposes the 2D window framing to be chromate green like th e pictures of Jesses bird. If you want, I can send to you for approval and use if you wish.
I've been using c97.air without problems. If strat.air is "better" I can easily pop that in from my B377's.
I have another question...was the padding/batting in the cockpit of the C97 also green? I have seen pics of this, and it appears to be so on Jesses bird. My vc textures have been repainted thusly. Was thinking of modding my copy of the engineers panel and radio operators panel similarly just for consistency.
Again these are local changes I have made only, with no intent to distribute unless you want them as part of your package. I will say I like my night lighting positioning in the VC better with this tweak:
light.4=4, 34.5, -1, 3.5, fx_vclight
This makes the cockpit slightly darker and also puts some light on the radar scope which is interesting to me.

Thanks again for all your inputs. Strat, everything you suggested, I`ve checked, and it all checks out fine. A colleague has downloaded the C-97, into his FS2004, and will then mod the panel. If he sees the C-97 in his aircraft list, I will, apart from screaming, get him to transfer the C97 folder onto a disc, and will put it into my FS2004...having removed mine, of course, and see what happens. Everything looks fine to me, so I just can`t understand whats happened.

Hi Eric,
I think you're right about the green. The "brownish" texture I used came from a series of photographs I took of the quilted lining of a favourite old leather jacket many years ago which I then shrunk, stretched, poked at and beat up using Paintshop Pro.
I have just opened one of the old layered files and altered the colour balance of the "quilted lining" (which was done as an overlay). It's quite simple to do. If you'd like to email me your 2D I'd love to see it.
As to the Strat.air file? I just downloaded b37704.zip from Calclassic which includes Strat.air as one of the components to use with the C97. If memory serves, this was created at about the same time as the updated .mdl files were released to fix seams and improve the prop disc appearance.
Regards, and thanks,
Bruce
