Beautiful job. I've always thought that was a unique livery.

Now that IS nice!
For many years I hung on to an old FS98 one of these, but eventually I go rid of it because it was so basic. I look forward to the end results of this work very much!

Aside from the cowlings, are there any other significant external differences between the L-049 and the L-749, and just out of curiosity, who owns the original GMAX Connie files. I guess they were John Howard White's, but who ended up with them?

Hi,
There really aren't that many external differences between the 049 and 749 - cowlings and window arrangement, mostly.
Kent Morris got a CD from John's wife, but he told me it doesn't have the source files on it (it was burned by a neighbor that didn't know what we needed). I've tried to get a file listing from Kent, but I can only contact him sporadically, for some reason. Looks like they might be lost...

That's a bit of a tragedy if true. Not only because it would be much easier to modify the existing aircraft with them, but also because of all the work, and care that were obviously put into it. I suppose if Manfred Jahn and team had nothing better to do and were sitting around twiddling their thumbs they could do a 749, but anymore, there is so much work and time to come up with a new model, just like the Starliner, I don't know if they would tackle it, that or a new 1049, although Mike Stone's is still serving me well.

Very nicely done paint work....I'll have to get me a copy of that for the Connie fleet. Mike's 1049 was certainly good for it's time....but if Manfred et al could be talked into doing a version of it along the lines of the Starliner that would certainly be the icing on the cake.

Thanks for this wonderful paint. ;D
Sometimes least is best , and that's what makes this a truely stunning texture for the classic Connie.
