Brilliant, thanks Jaap.
Now to find the time to do a few repaints :-)

If anyone else would like to join in, this list of RAF squadrons could be quite useful. To represent just a fraction would be great! sg-etuo.de/bilder/RAF1963.pdf
This list is indeed very useful, and allows me to adjust my RAF traffic with the adequate aircraft. Most of them are flyable models anyway. Besides the Soviet assignments it's the most complete list I got up to now. Thanks for sharing this extremely precious information!
BTW, I did a very basic scenery of FVHA Salisbury (Harare). Default scenery isn't suitable, and "Africa 1962" scenery package includes just an Afcad.
Sud-Aviation Alouette III delivered to Royal Rhodesian Air Force in 1962, based at New Sarum AB (part of Salisbury Airport) and AI of course, what else ...
The most important Rhodesian air base was FVTL Thornhill AB, used by the Royal Rhodesian Air Force. Ian Elliot did a nice scenery of this air base, available at SOH.

Meanwhile I "dissected" the RAF list 1962 and established an xls list to get a better overview what have been based where. Now I will try to find the most adequate models and create basically pattern flightplans, excepted those which have been done already.
Does anyone knows whether a similar list is available for Royal Navy?

It is the list that I created (not canonical but it is a start) Bombers Vulcan B2, B2 Blue Steel- JYAI Valiant - Mike Stone Victor - JYAI Canberra B2, PR3, T4, PR7 - JYAI Hastings - JBK model (not AI) or D-GHHH simulationware (FS2002) Varsity - Rick Piper model (not AI) Fighters Javelin - Mike Stone or Kazunori Ito Hunter F6, F4, T7 FGA9 - JYAI Lightning F1A, F2, T4 - JYAI, MRAI Coastal Command Hasting - JBK model (not AI) or D-GHHH simulationware (FS2002) Shackleton - Phoenix Design model (not AI) Whirlwind - Calclassic AI (needs repaint) Transport Command DC3 - Calclassic AI or default FS2004 (need re-paint) Hastings - JBK model (not AI) or D-GHHH simulationware (FS2002) Brittania - Calclassic AI (with Mike Stone repaint) Comet - Calclassic AI RAF paint Beverley - AI model available for download on this thread, or FS2002 model (not AI) by Ralph Pegram, Bob Hazeldine and Brian Horsey Argosy - JYAI Whirlwind - Calclassic AI Sikorsky S-55 (need repaint) Twin Pioneer - Calclassic AI RAF paint Flying Training Command Pembroke - Calclassic AI (with paint from original) Anson Folland Gnat - Simshed Jet Provost - Rick Piper (not AI) Chipmunk - 4GA Chipmunk (Mike Cronin) AI specific Vampire T11 Meteor F8, T7 Canberra T4 - JBAI Varsity T1 - Rick Piper (not AI) Valetta T1 - Rick Piper (not AI) Gavin

Thanks Gavin, your list will be of great help, and at least it confirms more or less what I collected up to now:
Several assignments are already included in different RAF sceneries released in the recent past. Therefore no need to reinvent the wheel! The squadron specific repaints finally constitute about a fourth or even less of the models needed for all air bases. So I think to use some rather squadron unspecific resp. "neutral" repaints for the rest. As you stated above, several a/c would be flyable models. Most of Alphasim releases are meanwhile freeware.
I tried to get the Westland Sycamore flyable as AI, but the best result was a CTD!
Actually I'm not sure whether the RAF 1962 list has really been established thoroughly. It states an Andover C.1 based at Thorney Island. This type flow the first time in 1965 ...Ok, that might be hopefully a sole mistake.

Those lists would be amazing to achieve! My plans of a release of a hopefully simple single download package are forming and hopefully will be out in a few weeks. For your planning, I'll be including:
AFCADs for Lyneham, Colerne, Coningsby, Scampton, Coltishall, Wattisham (plus some others from Nikko, Jaap & Harry's earlier package eg El Adem, Aldergrove) AI Model and repaints for HP Hastings (with permissions) 'Stripped down for AI' Comet C.2 (Jens' flyable model, with permission) RAF paint for Calclassic Britannia, in consultation with Tom
Flightplans: 216 Sqn Comet 99/511 Sqn Britannia 114/OCU & 105 Sqn Argosy 24, 48, 70, 36 & 202 Sqn Hastings 74 & 56 Sqn Lightning 9, 27, 83 & 617 Sqn Vulcan
Additional downloads will be required for Argosy, Lightning and Vulcan models Highly recommended downloads include the various sceneries by Ian Elliot of RAF bases in Middle & Far East
My focus is on a simple download using (mainly) AI models and aircraft & flightplans that are more likely to mix with the civilian Calclassic world.
Really glad that this has triggered such interest!
Best Regards Dave

Is your RAF Colerne a payware scenery? Some six years ago (!) you mentioned the Colerne scenery from Shepsshed. But mine looks quite different.

Oh no, the Colerne above is the AFCAD I'll include with some library buildings and vehicles etc to liven it up. Sheps Shed scenery is likely more accurate but as I remember it involves some extra steps during install to get the ground level correct. My version sacrifices exact positioning for ease of installation.

Gavin mentioned the Chipmunk in his list. At Avsim you might download the RAF Gatow Retro Package including the two Chimpunk based there between 1958 and 1994 "to maintain and exercise the British legal right under the Potsdam Agreement to use the airspace over both West and East Berlin, as well as the air corridors to and from West Germany to the City" (Wikipedia).

Thanks Gavin, I will. I've yet to really look at the text of them (although they are merrily lumbering around my virtual world!). Do you mind if I split it into squadrons, if necessary? It helps me work out traffic loads and Afcad/parking etc.

The flights are broken down by squadron. Gavin Beverley FlightPlans.zip (3.26 KB)

I am desperately waiting for a vampire AI-model. Maybe ACG will hear my prayers.

Hi Not got any further with the Beverley repaints but got distracted with repaints for the 152 Sqn Pembrokes out for Bahrain. This is / will be part of the 152 Sqn Twin Pioneer pack. 152 Sqn flew 3 Pioneers as A flight based in Bahrain while B flight had 3 Twin Pins based in Sharjah. I managed to find photos of all 3 Pembrokes and here are 2 of them parked at Bahrain Obviously I haven't got the hang of inserting images plus these are some rough repaints for AI use so be gentle.
