I did a Varig repaint for AFG's Caravelle, using a bunch of black and white photos of the actual bird. I still get hate mail from Brazilians about how bad a job I did on it.... Don't let them spoil you the fun of creating repaints! Just ignore these emails...if they could do it better they wouldn't write such stupid mails That looks great, Manfred! I have already found some nice liveries for the H-Model Here are two pictures of the revised Varig repaint: As soon as I get the Ok from my Brazilian consultant I will upload it to Avsim ;D Greetings Tim

That sort of e-mail has up to this point been the reason why I never made my repaints available to just anyone but rather delivered them via e-mail to people I figured would appreciate them.
But like Tim said ignore those morons that just flame your work. Any real suggestion type mail is always welcome and if my skill AND time allow I normally try to accommodate. But if there is nothing constructive In the e-mails I would simply suggest that they delete my work and never try anything else I did.
I did a somewhat fictional RAF repaint for R.Pipers Argosy and some folks at SOH just about had coronaries because that just clearly was not the correct model for the RAF. ;D ;D It was however the ONLY Argosy model and I did not upload the texture anywhere...sending it only to the guy who asked for it (and a few others that contacted me via PM)
I am going to keep both Varig versions Tim....they both look good to me. ;D

Well Tim, you knew already from your repaints for e.g. the DC-2 how much I like your work. And your Connie repaints are absolutely fabulous. So like e.g. Stefan says, just ignore those wee s***** (okay, unsympathetic people) who think they know "how it should be done".
Cheers, Maarten

That Capital livery for the 'H' is simply...well...capital! And the Varig paint is looking simply incredible Tim. If you haven't gotten the chance to check it out, Timetable Images website has a complete Varig 1960 schedule, which includes Super Constellation flights. Here's the link: www.timetableimages.com/ttimages/complete/rg60/As for the repainting, I do appreciate the words of encouragement to ignore the bad apples. I always appreciate constructive criticism (hopefully interspersed with lots of praise too!); but it just amazes me the sense of entitlement of some people. It's simply incredible how much they think they are owed, simply because they are allowed to open their mouths. Ok, rant off, sorry about that.

Two of my favorite schemes for the Super Constellation. You've done an excellent job! A welcome addition for sure.

Now that Varig is one great looking paint job. I hope that you don't think that all this adulation is to try to get it released sooner ( well I guess it is ) but it is a great paint. Never mind what others say, I have not seen one paint out there that is not better than anything I have done. Congrats!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

I've been eagerly awaiting the Super G. Thanks to the team. Great work! That said, my engine #3 vacuum pump doesn't seem to work: With only engine 3 running, I get no vacuum. When I start #2, both vacuum lights go out. Anyone else seen this?

I'm not sure if this has been discussed already (I searched the forum for "cowl" and nothing regarding the Connie came up), but I just finished a rather long flight and after landing, I shutdown the two inboard engines and decided to close just those engine's cowl flaps (engines 2 and 3). I confirmed they were closed via the engineer's panel but when I looked at the plane in spot view, they were still open. So I tried selecting engine one and closing just engine 1's cowl flaps and, sure enough, all 4 engines' flaps closed. I'm guessing this is a bug, but I had the simulator running for nearly over 8 hours today, so something else could have been contributing.
It just occurred to me to test out different models of the L-1049 package - I tried this in both the short-nosed non-wing-tank model AND the radar-nosed wing-tanked model. In both cases, engine 1 controls ALL of the cowl flaps.

I just tested it on for myself and found the same issue.

Pattersoncr: the cowl flaps issue is related to a faulty model feature, thanks for spotting it. To be corrected.
Drepamig: Vacuum pumps point noted, but don't know whether we'll find a quick cure.
Thanks, Manfred

Hi Manfred,
I'm having an issue with the VC cockpit views. When in VC mode, if I pan around the cockpit with the hat switch, all is well. But if I use the number pad keys 4 & 6 to look quickly left and right, when I release the key, I get the VC panel laid over the top of the 2D panel. I can get rid of this only by cyling through the 2D/VC/tower/outside views. Has anyone else had this issue?? If needed, I can send a screenshot - my e-mail's at the left.
The good news is that I've finally done a perfect flight (flight number 4). I changed tanks regularly, and made a good landing with 4 engines working, so as I suspected, the problem reported before was just my ineptness. This is a brilliant plane and I really enjoy flying it when I get a chance.
To Tim, the Varig paint looks great. It will be in my hangar. Don't let those who just pick, pick, pick get you down, as that way, they win.
Cheers, Mike.
