Old aircraft are great, but if you are able to look out the window and see the Millenium Eye in London it tends to take away from the immersion -- especially if you want to simulate flying from London to Paris in the Farman F.60 "Goliath" aircraft.
Having had a peak at the promo videos for the two magnificent flying boats now released for MSFS, what stuck with me most is the way the Latécoère wobbled on the water like a rubber duck on take-off and the Dornier launching like an Airbus on steroids (this is how it truly got airborne). This is not to demote those two products and those issues may be ironed out. It just illustrates how everyone can have different preferences and chooses his sim and add-ons based on those.
With FS9, I can max out every feature, have all thinkable tools available to modify whatever I like and a wealth of add-ons to choose from, for every era. Add to this the hugely improved graphics compared to when it came out, as mentioned above, and FS9 is still the winner for me. And for those who have noticed I hardly do any actual flying in it: that does not make a difference in this case.
Cheers,
Erik
Good for you if you are happy with FS91 and it enough for you, keep using FS91 and ignore MSFS things.
this it's not a competition, between "which is better". We talk about classic simulation in the simulators we use.
As not a lot of people here, start to use MSFS yet, i share my experience with MSFS, as an old user of almost
all version of microsoft FS, from FS 5.1
For the flying boats on MSFS, i have for MSFS almost all that was released until now,
(Boeing 314, Latecoere 631, Dornier Wal, Dornier X, and float versions of Fokker IV, Ford Trimotor, DC-3, Junkers F13, etcetera):
i never got, use and see (look & feel), better versions on any other of the simulators i have.
But if in your case, FS91 is enough for you, great.
For me, is not, after start to use MSFS. (either for developping or for flying).
Was already the case with P3D V45,comparing with FS91 but now,
with MSFS, is really another world, a real evolution in all aspects.
