Well....just installed newest revision Bjoern, still no FH-227 or Mk500 show up, did as the read me says, installed F27_Native, F27_FH227, and F27_Mk500 into SimObjects\Airplanes, then installed the "Effects" and "Sound" into main FSX, I see the Fairchild and Fokker F-27, but no FH-227 and Mk500 at all, anyone else having this issue ?

ikkim1985, Dennis, are you trying to follow an VOR-DME? I had an issue with this kind of VOR of not guiding the RMI gauge, I think. Bernie

leutnantwernerBernie, Yes, I'm trying to follow VOR-DME. RMI Gauge reads fine, it shows correct course and correct following comparing GPS. But using Autopilot - Range or LOC / it won't follow RMI and correct VOR course. Heading sets about 20 degrees right to VOR flight course, and heading is stuck there and plane flys 20 degrees off course. ATC guides me to head back to the course. Once again, heading back to original course using Heading. When Range/LOC comes up as Autopilot mode, again it goes 20 degrees right and stuck there. Hmm.. Strange.. Regards, Dennis

Hi, Well, I will try it with the standard MS autopilot, if the behavior will be the same. BTW, here a promo movie for the F27 in 1957. It's in Dutch, but some awesome flight maneuver, single-engined t/o and landing, steep banking and indoor shootings. www.youtube.com/watch?v=S98q0BBGajACheers Bernie

Have you looked through the ENTIRE aircraft list?! The FH-227 is listed under "Fairchild-Hiller", the Mk.500 is "Fokker". The folders were copied straight without alterations from my FSX installation. They work for me and I have not received any other complaints of this kind, so it can't, it just can't be a fault on my part. Do you have FSX installed in "C:\Program Files" (i.e. the default path)? If so, you've made a big mistake as Windows is - for "security" reasons - superrestrictive regarding manually moving files into this folder. Autoinstallers might still be waved through by User Account Control, so that's why you don't see any errors with payware or similar add-ons. Try disabling UAC and try installing the planes again.

Mine follows VOR's just fine. I set the AP on RANGE, set the HSI course knob (white markings) to the radial desired, and I head right for the VOR on that radial.

No, don't think its a fault on your part Bjoern, the F-27 shows fine, doesn't make any sense why the FH227 and Mk500 doesn't, I have UAC disabled, and FSX installed in its own folder on the "E" drive, the path is E\FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\F27_Native, F27_FH227, F27_Mk500, In the list in the sim I have a Fairchild F-27A Britt Airways, Fairchild F-27A Hughes Airwest, Fokker F-27 Mk200 ROUND, thats all thats actually in the sim.

Check the Mk500 and FH-227 folders for completeness.
- "Model" folder. Content: Two .mdl files, one .cfg file. - "Panel" folder. Content: A panel.cfg reading:
[fltsim] alias=F27_Native\panel
- "Sound" folder. Content: A sound.cfg reading:
[fltsim] alias=F27_Native\sound
- "Texture.xyz" folder. Content: Three or four .dds files, a thumbnail file and a texture.cfg reading:
[fltsim] fallback.1=..\..\F27_Native\texture - Root folder: An aircraft.cfg, F-27.air and nothing more
If you have this folder structure with all these files present and in the described state but it still won't work, try copying the whole "panel" and "sound" folders from "F27_Native" into the Mk500s and FH-227s folders.
Also, make absolutely sure that you have "show all variations" ticked in the aircraft menu and that FSX is patched to SP2 or Acceleration.
If you did all this and it still won't work, please punch your PC and send my regards. And punch it hard.

Partial success, got the FH227 and Mk500 to show in FSX after I copied and pasted the whole panel and sound into the 227 and Mk500 folders, however on the 227 I have solid black landing gear, engines, ailerons, cockpit windows, any ideas ??, also isn't the difference between the two planes is the Fairchild FH-227 is a F-27 with a 6 ft long extension in front of the wings only, while the Fokker F-27 Mk500 has a 3 ft long extension in front of the wing and a 3 ft extension behind the wing, I know I'm right about the 227, but not sure about the Mk500.

Ok, more partial success, after looking through the F-27, the FH-227 & Mk500 folders I found "Misc_Outside.dds" files missing from the texture.BTA and texture.blank folders of the FH-227, now I just have black panels and black prop disks in both the FH-227 and the Mk500 to figure out
Edit : copied "spin_prop.dds" into texture.BTA and the for the Mk500 also, now have correct looking spinning prop disks, can't figure out the FH-227/Mk500 panel textures though.

Rename "F-27_Native" to "F27_Native" (no dash!!) and everything should work without copying any more textures. I needed someone over at Sim-Outhouse to point this out and I'm embarassed enough to go into exile on a distant planet.
Uploaded a new revision fixing this bug.
The FH-227 was stretched by 1.81m, all in front of the wing, while the Mk500 got 0.89m in front and 0.61m behind the wing (or 0.81 and 0.69m).

Yes Bjoern, that sure fixed it, thank you, I do have a small favor to ask though, would you make the fin on top of the fuselage connected to the tail a solid color matching the fuselage and tail getting rid of the line on top of the fin and the shadow ?, other than that I think you have yourself a pretty much perfect F-27, FH-227, Mk500 family here for FSX, it even sits with the proper nose down attitude, awesome work bud, thanks to you Tom and Bernie we now have a Fairchild/Fokker we are proud to fly.

You've done a remarkable job with this project, and we look forward to more. You may, however, go and have a short lie-down if you wish.

would you make the fin on top of the fuselage connected to the tail a solid color matching the fuselage and tail getting rid of the line on top of the fin and the shadow ? What fin? What line? Switch off "Model casts shadow on itself" if you don't like the self-shadowing from the vertical tail or antenna. You've done a remarkable job with this project, and we look forward to more. The only other CC aircraft I've been working on long-term is the 580. Everything else is just too old for my sim world (1980s). I got myself a partner in crime for the 580, but he started redoing much of my "Screw it, that looks well enough, I want to move on" areas (e.g. those bloody cockpit windows!). I haven't heard from him lately and assume that he threw in the towel on the project. Needless to say that my current motivation to go on is at an all-time-low, especially since my other area of concern are the awfully complicated engine nacelles. Should the 580 ever be finished, it won't have much in common with the one available here. The VC is 95% new and the exterior got modified in a lot of areas. As paint compatibility will very much be nonexistant, I'll need a lot of people for repaints and texture work.

The fin on top of the fuselage behind the wing connected to the bottom front of the tail, it's grey and has a dark line on top of it in relation to the fuselages and tails, no matter what paints, turning off shadows on aircraft has no effect in making it the same color as the fuselages and tails
