Good morning... Hope you're enyoing this beta....Don't forget to drop me a PM in case you notice any issues with landclass, objects in the middle of the runways, flattens, etc. * Jorge reported trees on the runways at Ellington AFB (missing exclusion bgl) ...this has been fixed already... * Bernard reported a duplicate military traffic file (Traffic_misc_1962.bgl)....it will only affect if you installed all the AI aircraft I included....this file has been already deleted any other reports will be fixed as soon as possible ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the meantime, I'm just making some visual adjustments, like replacing the landclass and all the modern ships at Houston river...did anyone noticed something "missing" at Dallas.....all modern buildings at downtown are gone...I placed some generic buildings at a mid-level height instead to give the look of those days.....you can spot them better if you approach to RWY 31 Well....this wasn't even considered, only what you see on the beta...Jorge had this great idea and I decided to go with it..Thanks a lot Jorge! .....welcome to vintage Dallas downtown. The Republic National Bank and the Southland Life Insurance buildings were the tallest structures on those days....you can also see the former Magnolia building with the mobilgas pegasus sign on top (Not yet finished)and the Mercantile Bank building at right. Dealey plaza.....the untextured building is the Dallas County Courthouse...there's still texturing work pending there. Cheers!

Wow Juan, that looks great! Can't wait to actually see Dallas for the first time in FS. There's been some "attempts", but none even match the modern skyline right because they keep dumping in AutoGen buildings and it kills the look because the style doesn't fit. It looks like you still used some "stock" shapes, but since they're the right color for Dallas, they fit right in. I would never ask anyone to try and completely rebuild Downtown Dallas (or Fort Worth) with all the correct buildings. It's far too hard to do even with good orthographic photos for reference because there's not a "standard" building in either city. Every one is unique.

Juan:
I want to add my thanks for your creating this; especially when I fly old TTA routes. I haven't installed the beta yet but have a quick question: I currently have Dan French's Historic Downtown Scenery Austin active. I'm aware I need to inactivate my current KATT (Austin Mueller) per your instructions, but am wondering if I should also do this to Dan's downtown Austin scenery when installing your beta. Thanks!

Hi! Not a problem, the only previous sceneries that must be deactivated are: - My Austin Mueller 1961 - Dan's Houston Intl 1966 - Dan's San Antonio 1966 *** Dan's Historic Austin scenery, Waco Regl. and Midland-Odessa Regl must remain active....... All the best

Hola Juan - que tal, amigo?
I've been tied up personally and work wise such that I have had no time for FS in weeks. But was able to free up just 5 min to check out the TX beta - I went to a number of the NAS - and they're superb!!!
In particular, I really like what you did with KEFD - the Mercury capsule outside the NASA hangar was almost too good to be true. That's my new parking spot in TX!!
Again, many thanks - I don't know if modelling all that NASA stuff was in your initial plan - that was a great dream come true for me. So thanks so very much.

Juan:
Have now installed the Texas '62 beta and to second what Tom said: I [too] am in love with Love (field)!!! I did notice several incidents of my old nemesis the "FSX Tree Transparency" problem with at least 2 of the terminals (KTYR and KFTW). Specifically, I haven't found these particular trees in Core Scenery. I freely admit to being a graphics novice, but was wondering based on other posts I've read that these particular trees are part of the terminal buildings themselves? I'd appreciate any guidance/enlightenment from anyone on how to find these. Thanks, John C

Instant Scenery reports that the Tyler_ez.BGL file contains the following trees:
MTtrees3.bgl - 2 MTtrees4.bgl - 3 MTtrees6.bgl - 1
You should find all three of these files in the Addon Scenery/Static Objects Library/scenery folder. KFTW (Meacham_ez.bgl) uses #4 and #6. There are a total of about 11 MTtrees files there, all used in the classic scenery.
Hope this helps,

Thanks, Tom! Found 'em! As an aside, for some reason the MTtreesx.bgls didn't list (though others did) when I did a Win7 partial file name search for "tree" or "trees" in the Static Object Library folder. Guess it's an MS Win7 "feature" I've yet to explore. Oh well..... John C

Are you using ModelConverterX to convert these objects to FSX format?

Tom: I have it and plan to use it. For now, have placed the "offending" trees into a removed folder within the Static Obj Lib until I can get back and convert them. John C

I have been flying in the scenery for the past few days and have enjoyed it. This package is going to be a great addition to our backdated sim
Now I am looking forward to the next release to test and the final package....
