Hi boys.... As I stated before, airport count has increased again and the project almost doubled it's size... while doing research I discovered a lot of airports and former Army or Navy airfields that were reactivated during the early 60's "cold war" era....later used as municipal airports.... The methodology used to decide which airport deserves a backdate is simple...airports with closed or buried runways, and former Army or Navy Fields......all small airports having 1 single runway since early 60's are not being modified. To have a better idea about , take a look at these 2 screenshots...Here's Avenger Field at Sweetwater, TX...as you can see...airports are being populated also with Navy or Army freighters....just imagine they are carrying supplies or personell ;D Here's another one, I finished the layout and building last night...can anyone guess which airport is it.... Keeping the hard work, all comments and suggestions are accepted!

Hola Juan!! Unos aeropuertos maravillosos ...
Any chance of NAS Beeville/Chase Field making it into your pack?
Looking forward to these - first rate, as always.

Approach. Texas niner one continuing to hold. Aaahh... we're running a bit low on fuel, here. Any updates on when the field will open?
:-) Hope all is going well with you and yours Juan. Still really looking forward to Classic Texas!

I definitely look foward for this, as much as APAC62 pack. I also wonder if there still is chance for Scholes field, Galveston.

I can't speak for Juan or Dan directly, but the three of us have been working on several different aspects of Texas for a few weeks now. Like always, regular life seems to creep in and ruin things! It's now a collaborative project with Dan and I working on some of the military bases starting with Carswell. Next will be Amarillo, Dyess, Corpus, etc. I've asked for - and recieved permission to use - MAIW libraries as long as we include download and install instructions and don't redistribute the libraries themselves. Between custom objects, MAIW, Mr. Gersch's (sp?) all-encompassing library, and Core Library objects, we should be well rounded for the military side of the house. Dan has given me permission to work on his buildings to lower the poly counts and try and reduce the drawcalls as well. Finished the base HQ and tower, but still working on the 300 x 150 hangar as well as other stuff. Slowly but surely, all three of us are sending things back and forth and getting things organized. Currently I'm working on the readme for the download and install of the MAIW stuff which I'm sending to the rest of the team soon as well as finishing some touches on Carswell itself. The main sticking point seems to be frames for Ito's B-36 AI plans. Unless you have a monster machine only 8 or so are able to be on the ramp at any one time. Mr. Lucariny's B-58 fares better, but not by much. Still working on Mr. Rey Lopez's B-47 for possible "visiting" bombers. ;D If the guys agree, I'll post some "work in process" shots later. Wish I would've realized this sooner, but teamwork is the key!

Hi All! "Trans Texas 918, KLBB RWY 35 is currently obstructed by construction equipment, closed for Commertial Aviation......please proceed to alternate KMAF at FL090....." ;D just kidding... Working on those yet, but thanks for the advice Jesse, remembers me that I still have a lot to do with the landclass areas.... BTW..I noticed some "light" points on the roads....do they simulate cars, street lights or another type or effect?...they look nice there. *** Hi Dennis! Sholes Field at Galveston is included on the set, I'm not sure if the airport had a tower cab on the top on those years, haven't found any pictures of Galveston yet, but looking at the pictures available, I posted this picture on que scenery quiz thread some time ago. BTW....I have a question to all pilots....... *How often do you fly or visit GA airports on your classic flights?, does anyone makes "Bush Flying" on small planes? Thank you all for the good comments!

Hi Juan,
According to my 1960 Jeppesen, Galveston did not have tower radio frequencies, only a beacon. So it likely did not have a tower at all.
Hope this helps,

Great news and glad to hear the team is coming together on this. LOL, Juan. Midland is a great place to head for. The lights are cars and street lights both from a combination of Ground Environment Pro and Ultimate Terrain. I flew in and out of Scholes many times in the '60's and your rendition of the terminal seems consistent with my memory (what there is left of it ) And as far as a tower cab I don't recall there ever being any control tower but do remember that the airport manager/ fbo operator and his wife were quite particular about everyone reporting in on Unicom and receiving "clearance" for takeoff and landing. Not a common practice at that point in time but may have been a throw back to the time TTA had service to Galveston; or perhaps he was just a bit ahead of his time. Interesting you asked about GA; I probably spend at least half of my Classic flying in GA aircraft and really love it. Hope I won't be banned from the forum for revealing that.

Hi, Glad to hear that Scholes will be added to the package.. As I remember, It's bit long time ago (maybe about 18 years ago.. when I was living there.. ), Scholes didn't have control towers, and I believe it still is. BTW many thanks. about GA, I usually fly commercial flights but also sometimes enjoy GA flights too. regards, Dennis

Hi All..... Bad news pilots......it's not easy for me to talk about this, but finally my old computer who has served me for the last 4 years has crashed last night due to a motherboard issue. I must say that I feel very, very frustrated about this , I know several people were expecting this scenery set and I had several sceneries on the making that I liked to share, but I have other priorities in my personal life, so I don't know how much time it will take me to: 1.- get the same computer repaired, or 2.- get a whole new one..... The good news is that all my FS installation was not on the main drive, all that was running on a slave drive, so I *hope* it is still intact when I resolve this problem. another good news is that I have some single sceneries stored here at work that could be released (...let's say they're almost finished (98%)....if someone wants to help me, please send me a PM. - Atlanta Municipal 1962. - Anchorage Intl. 1959 - Some Illinois Airports 1962 ********** I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all people who have encouraged me with nice comments and have provided useful info...I'm not leaving, just I'll be out of scenery making for some time..... All the best!

So sorry to hear this - hope you get your computer back in shape very soon. And you're right - real life always has priority over hobbies.

Gee Juan sorry to hear that. I hate to see you out of action like that. I have a windows 7 machine sitting in a box I have no use for other than as a back up should one of my other machines go down. While it's not a very fast machine (ie why it goes unused) it works. You can have it at no charge. Send me a PM if you are interested and we can figure out how to get it to you.
