Hi, Juan, I feel your pain. A couple of years ago, there was a Microsoft XP update that rewrote the file allocation table on one of the hardrives in my string array....I didn't have an array any more...which meant I had nothing at all. I know that feeling well. Hopefully, you were in a better position to recover data, even though it means waiting a bit. We'll be here. I hope things better for you and very soon. We're all here for you.

Hello All: I'm back to the business with this project....I could restore almost the 85% of my prevoius work, so I'll be working hard on it on the next days..... One of the recent updates!....with the kind permission of Dan French, I have merged his KHOU scenery into this project....I made some little AFCAD corrections, a whole new building placement, some texture improvements and of course, added the excellent vehicle and ramp equipment objects around it...... I hope you like it!

Looking very good! The light pole passing through the building looks a bit odd - you could hide it in one of those tan posts nearby?
Thanks,

Hi boys. Days ago I spoke about some updates...well, here's part of what I have.... Early this year I added a large amount of general aviation airports and I'm giving a bit of life to some backdated Air Force Bases and Naval Stations......adding custom military traffic like early jet trainers (sorry , MATS transport jets (sorry again! ;D) and other MATS/NAVY/USAF propliners flying to nearby bases .....so I'm very occupied making repaints and coding flightplans!. ...this will be very funny once it's finished Airport count: Airline serviced airports:............30 Backdated AFBs / NAS...............12 General Aviation airports:...........27 I didn't had enough time last night to get more images, but I will be posting more updates here on the next days Enjoy! Kingsville NAS MATS transport jets?.....Yes!, you'll see this beauties at some air bases...

Hi! More bases being completed with custom AI traffic performing touch and go's....I must be clear that aircraft at some bases do not match with the historical records ....the primary intention here is to give a bit of "life" to those bases......so enjoy! Chase Field NAS .....C-54 and TA-4J Skyhawk Corpus Christi NAS....C-54 and TS-2A Tracker Laredo AFB ....F-104 and T-37 (not spotted on this screenshot)

I so can't wait for the NAS and AFBs ...
To what extent will Ellington field reflect the early 60s NASA hangar presence in the area? That area was a hub of activity from Mercury to Apollo, with nearby spacecraft contractor factories and training facilities ...
Not saying I hope for any of the LBJ Space Center facilities per se - just wondering if there's at least a NASA Hangar at Ellington, just something to give a "whiff" of the flavour of the heady early sixties days ....
Regardless, this will be such a treat!

Hi Daniel! Thanks for the comments!, I didn't considered Ellington (KEFD) on the project....thus, I have no idea about what type of training or what aircraft operated at Ellington by early 60's...lets say between 60-64...a 1964 aerial photo shows a line of F-102 (TX ANG) and what seems to be a lot of C-119 boxcars According to NASA Dryden aircraft images, T-38 was used singe early 70's...same as Martin WB-57F.... But.... I already have the F-104 on other airports and really want to limit the use of "non-Ai" aircraft models due to FPS impact; if anyone minds, I can place some (lets say 15) F-104's at Ellington; on early 60's NASA livery just performing touch and go's........ ;D Any thoughts or ideas?

Hello Juan - thanks for the response. I'm all for FPS reduction - indeed, I'm hoping I can even run this at all, as in FSX (what I now use), the sceneries are really heavy on FPS. Of course - I totally understand the sceneries only have FS9 in mind, so I accept that I get what I get, and whatever works is just a gift - kind of how I view Calclassic as a whole. By and large (60% of the time) they work - so just getting them to be looking and working well will make me happy. As to NASA's use of Ellington during the period you're designing for - while it was heavily used by by NASA as a training and transport hub airport to support Johnson Space Centre, there was not much of the infrastructure built yet. Hangar 990 (later to house the T-38s and WB-57s) would come later (80s, I think) -most of the physical infrastructure was to the JSC itself, not so much Ellington the airport per se. At most, likely one of the TANG hangars would have been "borrowed" by NASA at the time, not much else. To that end, a few NASA F-104s buzzing about is just fine by me. Some IFR traffic between EFD and EDW and/or COF would round it out - that should suffice. Those could easily be added by users later. cheers, Daniel

The new CE61 package will include AI F-104's - I don't know if these are frame rate friendly or not.

Hi! the F-104 I used above is an AI model by Ralf Kreibich...and It's very framerate friendly...you can place up to 15 planes without having a noticeable decrease. but...other Non-AI planes I used like the above TS-2A Tracker by Tomohito Unayama.....the F-11 Tiger by Italo D'Attomo and the F-9F Panther by Daisuke Yamamoto.....are not very frame rate friendly...They all behave OK as AI...but for users running FS9 with a random PC (P-IV or V) without a good video card and additional memory, the change on FPS could be noticeable. ----------------- my guess is that almost 85% of the users here have PC's above that...however, I must think about everyone's needs so I keep working on it ;D

Thanks Juan - I'm familiar with those models by Ralf - huge variety (virtually all operators covered, if memory serves) in that package - so this should be good. And yes, I recall one, maybe two NASA paints in that pack - so good news.
Your NAS Kingsville looks just the bomb! Can't wait, amigo.
Best,
DL
