Meanwhile, the Just Flight FSX DC-3 has been released, and very good it looks too. I haven't got my copy yet but look forward to a walkaround. Hi Manfred, I have this sim only due to the glider feature. When you take that walk-around you will find little detail anywhere on the outside. Note the difference in the prop logo and related markings to your detailed work. So many of us are thankful for you and your team's work to provide us with such "real as it can get" models. (Now, if we could just hook that glider to your DC-3 Russ

Manfred,
To heck with the other guys...waiting for your version will be well worth it!!!
And, joy of joys...you are keeping the Navigation Dome!
A beta by Christmas is just about all that us kids could wish for under our tree.
Again, thanking you so much for your efforts!

So ... we have got a pilot, and some animations including flaps, left main gear, steerable tailwheel and tailwheel compression. I have also slapped on a bump map (come back all I said) and a grainy specular map, which explains the weathered look. Contact points are way off still, as you can see. Have also commissioned a custom FD. Unfortunately, it always takes longer and things have a nasty habit of refusing to be rushed. So I am sorry to say this won't be ready by xmas. Don't know where, don't know when etc. but progress is being made.

Note the aerial cables in this one, no jaggies and not a straight line either, things that often stick out too much IMO. Otherwise most animations up and working now. Hope you are not tiring of these always-the-same pictures...

Hi Manfred, I am not getting tired of these shots, i love it and i can see some good progress. I even think that it looks better than the just flight Dakota (that one looks more like a lisunov with the engines) So i will wait for your Dizzy three . Thank you very much for all the efforts so far. My regards Jan

And now (at last!) for a completely different paint scheme … In the past few weeks I have been closely collaborating with Bernhard Lechner, who did a paint of 14+03 for the Just Flight/AH C-47 and now has ported it over to the current model (marked 14+01) . This can’t have been a fun exercise considering the basic texture sheets are being modified on a more or less daily basis. Nevertheless for the modeller an outsourced repaint has the inestimable advantage of bringing out hidden faults and mismappings. For instance, the test color patches on the elevators indicate that these are top rather than bottom surfaces. Researching this particular aircraft, Bernhard made a tour of the Oberschleissheim hangar of the Technikmuseum at Munich, which happens to have the original as an exhibit. This museum piece is like a three-dimensional handbook because it is liberally plastered with stencils identifying every single appendage and access panel. Up into the Seventies these Luftwaffe C-47s were used for calibration duties and a frequent sight around Luftwaffe airfields. Here is a typical spotter’s view: Once finished, the paintkit will be easy to use, and I am hoping to see more Gorgeous Gooneys, Splendid Skytrains and Dazzling Daks. As for the latter, it may be difficult to beat the one that’s currently sitting in Bernhard’s paintshop...
