Hi Manfred,
the last one belongs to the 'Yellow Peril' category, doesn't it? We have tigers, we have tiger sharks and now we have a tiger dak as well.
Best regards, Volker

Sweet looking paint work on a already great looking flying machine Manfred. I visited that museum last August with my Dad during my summer vacation at home. The whole setup is quite nicely done and well worth a trip.
That reminds me I wanted to look into a very shapely motor glider hanging in the section over the F4 and Mig21. It looked to be a retractable conventional geared airplane with a O-200 for motorized flight and long slender wings of a glider. Only 50 were made.

Stefan, Could this motor glider have been a Schleicher ASK16? 2 side-by-side seats, flat-four 72 hp Limbach SL 1700 EBI engine, main gear licence-built Mooney M20 type. Constructed by the great Rudolf Kaiser. One of the club members of the gliding club in Eschwege, Germany, I'm a member of has an ASK 16, registered D-KAXE. He has taken me up several times for some great flights to the Brocken (Harz) and back. Great, easy plane to fly with quite good sailing performance. D-KAXE has two auxiliary tanks, one under each wing, and seems to be a unique example. Here is a link to a photo of D-KAXE (pilot Andreas Reinl (owner), passenger Helmut Herschelmann, both club members). www.flugzeugbilder.de/show.php?id=698526Cheers, Maarten Cheers

No not quite Maarten. I looked through their list of AC on the web page and can't quite find it there. I think I still have the pics somewhere but I will make a separate post for that so as to not highjack Manfreds post.
Cheers Stefan

Release has got to be getting close...right? Asap by all means, but I still got a todo list of some twenty or so items. Spent some time fitting it with 3D curtains ...

VIP Gooney birds did have curtains. The standard canvas bucket seat versions did not. Our AACS Flight Check birds also had curtains but not entirely for passenger comfort. They were used to block unwanted external light from the the windows hitting the face of the scopes.

Here are the curtains, casting a natural shadow, and engine #1 fitted with a prop governor as requested by Paul. Thanks to all who have sent in pics of this elusive part. Revised cowls, too. I guess there will be a version with and one without curtains. Ctrl-C to open/close them. Nah, just kidding, of course you know what happens when you hit Ctrl-C...

Looking great. I believe there are some bolts between the props on the prop hub?

Hi Manfred,
Looks fantastic! :3
That reminds me, by the way: I've been to the Brussels Air Museum recently, and I managed to get some shots of the old Belgian Air Force Dakota there from angles which are normally not accessible to the general public - and from inside the cabin as well. Seems the old bird was rolled into the museum straight from the airport, she's still outfitted with all of her instruments and interior.
If you want, I can send you a folder with all of the shots I took of her.
Regards,
Nikko
